I am so excited. I am meeting with my friend tomorrow, we are going to go knit at a coffee shop. She is new to knitting and I am looking at this as an opportunity to connect but also talk about knitting and teach her how to purl. My other friend wants to join too but she is busy- I feel like this is going to be like lessons but both said that they are ok with that. I am so glad for Knitting help, and while I feel that I am not as experienced as some of you- Salmonmac and Creations (and many others), I do feel that you have helped me to become a far better knitter! I am going to introduce my friends to Knitting Help too- it has been so awesome for me!
This sounds wonderful! What a lovely thing to do, no surprise you are looking forward to it.
I will say though, I am positive you have far more experience than me, the range of projects I have seen you produce is impressive and varied whereas I only make sweaters. I may be quite active on the forum but the just means I talk a lot! You have experience of far more stitch patterns and construction methods and you will be a fabulous help to your friends.
Don’t forget to take a crochet hook so you can help pick up any dropped stitches!
Have fun, I’m sure you will.
What a good idea! It’s so much fun to sit with friends, knit and trade knowledge and techniques. They are some of the most enjoyable times. And thank you for spreading the word about Knitting Help. You are too kind.
There’s nothing better than a good “knit and natter” with friends! It’s also a lovely way to get new friends. I joined a group at a local yarn store several years ago, and have become friends with people there. Another group started by a friend of mine meets once a month, at a coffee shop in the winter and a nearby park in the summer.
I talk up Knitting Help all the time!
Sounds fab!
I am with all of you on group knitting. A “Stitch Night” was started at my local library… First in the corner of the library but the group became so big they let us use the staff room. We often get drop ins and although no one professes to be an expert, we help each other out and get newbies started in either crocheting or knitting. In the summer we bring our lawn chairs and sit outside in a little alcove. It’s a great way to “craft and chat”. Good for you. Hope you can keep it up!
