Knitting Victory!

I’ve been knitting for close to a year. I have knit scarves, sweaters, clogs, bags, etc- I really wanted to knit socks. I tried to use dpns, and I stank!! I just couldn’t do it. So…I learned how to knit socks on 2 circs. All this time, however, I still have wanted to learn how to use dpns. I want to be able to make mittens- I know there are 2 needle ones, but still. I want to be able to knit socks, using a more traditional method- plus I doubt my abilities to translate a pattern from dpns to circs.

Well…this morning I dug out my dpns, and I DID IT!!! I have had a pattern from Fiber Trends for months, for felted fish. I haven’t done anything with it, because you use dpns. I started a fish!! I figure it’s a perfect project, since it will get felted, you won’t see my sloppy joins as much, since my knitting definitely isn’t perfect on these dpns. I’ll just keep knitting away though, and I’m sure that by the time I finish the fish, I’ll be so much better at it! I am very excited to be able to have done this- I was always intimidated by dpns, and now I’m not!! :happydance:

Congrats!!

Good for you!! :cheering: :cheering: They get easier the more you use them!!

go margie, go margie, go margie! yeah, that join on dpn’s can be a reall b-otch. (pardon me! )

Yay Margie! :happydance: :cheering: :happydance: :balloons:

:cheering: :cheering: :cheering: right on, Margie! :cheering: :cheering: :cheering:

CONGRATS margie! That’s so great… I LOVE DPNS & always start another pair of socks within days of finishing the last pair. You will definitely get better at the ‘sloppy joins’ really fast, you’ll see! There’s something so intriguing about those cuties…dpns. Where oh where are mine…hmmmm…

That’s great. Way to go!

That’s awesome!!

:cheering:

Go Margie!!!

:cheering: :cheering: :cheering:

Woo hoo!

You go girl!! After you get used to them you will learn to love them!

:cheering: Now you have a reason to buy more knitting needles. You’ll need all the different sizes of DPN’s.

 I already have a bunch, I just haven’t used them yet!!

Thanks, everyone!!! I have about 5-6 inches done- and it does get easier as you go on! :cheering:

great job! Woohoo!

:happydance: :happydance:
So, where is this beautiful ge-felted fish??
:roflhard:
I crack me up…

Good for you! :cheering:
I’ve been afraid to try dpns myself, are they complicated?

:roflhard: you crack me up, too!!! I will post WIP pics later- my husband and I are putting in hardwood flooring today…I snuck away for a minute to check KH!!

I used to think they were complicated- it’s like some little switch went off in my brain now and they aren’t so bad anymore! I think that once I was able to work a few rounds, it clicked and now it isn’t hard like it used to be.
