Knitting two socks at once

Hi, I dream of knitting socks, but I know I’ll fall to second sock syndrome, so I found extreme knitting: two socks in one, an article in Knitty 2006:

Does anyone know if this technique can be adapted to any pattern, such as CookieA’s monkey or pomatomus socks?

Or what patterns can this technique be used for?

Thanks

As long as you’re not decreasing/increasing all the time you should be able to do any type of pattern stitches. It requires you to think about what you are doing before pulling the trigger and then not be stuck in the previous mode (when I got from ribbing to stockinette I really have to slow it down).

It’s not that decreasing or increasing is that hard but the heel, gusset and toe are plenty of decreasing for me (which should tell you I adapted that method to a different pattern).

Colorwork may be a headache and a half.

Not sure if any helpful info in these existing threads:
