Hi,
I want to put together my sweater at the shoulder seams (something I’ve not tried before). I looked at a few books and they all show the 2 pieces put back on needles. This confuses me (clearly I’m new at this) b/c where I’m supposed to stitch together the 2 pieces, it’s the bind-off part, so I don’t know where I would stick the needles into the piece. Any help anyone could offer would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ellen
You’re talking about three-needle bind off which is used when the seams are not bound off. It is a wonderful technique and creates a beautiful seam.
However, if the seams are already bound off, you’d have to undo the bind off in order to do the three-needle method.
Otherwise, you can use a Mattress stitch–picking up a stitch on each side of the seam. That creates a nice seam, too. Check out the videos–it’s slightly different to attach shoulders, but the basic idea is the same.
