I’ve just begun to knit an afghan pattern from a Vogue Knitting mag. The pattern begins right after the cast on without a prior knit or purl row. My problem is one of the stitch requirements is to knit into the Rt shoulder of the stitch below or RD1 as the abbrev states. Can someone tell me where the shoulder is?
Welcome to KH!
The right shoulder is probably also the back loop of the stitch below since this is all one continuous strand of yarn. Take a look at this video which makes an increase by knitting into the right side of the stitch below.
Which issue of VK is this in and what is the pattern number or name?
Thanks so much, it’s the afghan pattern # 21 in the new Vogue Holiday 2013 it starts right into the pattern . It’s taking me a while to get the flow of it, possible due to age LOL or just the nature of the pattern. But being the 1st row there’s not much to work with. Thank you so much for the video’s I’ll certainly check them out.
Mmmm, gorgeous!
For the first row, I would get the double increase anyway that you can and then to it correctly on succeeding rows or, put in a purl row after the cast on so that you have a foundation for the first chart row.
Love to see a photo when you finish.
