Knitting Stripes

Hello,
I’m new to knitting (and I LOVE it!) and I’m working on a striped scarf (horizontal stripes).

The pattern is to knit one row then purl one row of the first color. Then switch to the second color and knit one row then purl one row of the second color. Then back to the first color.

Seems easy enough, right? Well, I just can’t get it! Any advice?

I am not that experienced with knitting, so my word may not hold much value, but I would think fair isle would work. I could be completely wrong, but that’s my first thought.

Welcome ANH!

What kind of problem are you having exactly? Is it the knitting in general, or does it have to do with the two colors?..

Amy

I’m sorry, it’s the two colors, I can’t figure out what to do with the second color while I’m not using it and then how to begin using it when I’m done with the first color.

Just put one down, make sure their not twisted (unless you like the look of them being twisted, but be consistent), and pick up the new color and start knitting with it. Leave enough slack on it so that it’s not scrunching up the knitting by connecting tightly from the row below.

Hope that helps.
Amy
