Knitting socks

I am knitting my first pair of socks. I am now down to the toe shaping and I am to do as follows:Round 1 Needle#1 k to the last 3 sts and k2tog,k1. Needle #2k1,ssk,k to the last 3 sts,k2tog,k1. Needle #3 k1,ssk,k.

Round2: Knit

I am to do this until I have a total of 20 stitches. I have reached my 20 stitches. Do I still do the next row as a knit. I am not sure if I have to do this after I have decreased down to the 20 stitches. Any help would be appreciated. thank you.

For the socks I have made, I’ve had the last row as a decrease row. I don’t knit one row even. Then I graft the seam.

Hi Kathryn,

Yes, you would knit the next round to complete the set.

I am assuming you are using dpn’s and have 5 stitches on needle 1 and also 5 stitches on needle 3. Needle 2 has 10 stitches. If this is right, then after you do your final round of knitting you then will combine needles 1 and 3 so you wind up with two needles each containing 10 stitches. You will then be ready to close the toe. I use the kitchener stitch to do this.

Take care,
Arlene

Thanks for all the help. I really appreciate it.
