I have and endless amount of finished and unfinished scarves. Just when i work up the courage to try a bag, i realized that its written in Greek! Apart from my ranting, I really need advice…what does ‘pat’ mean? Im not sure im using it in the right context, but its close enough…
Knitting patterns are most likely Greek
My best guess is that “pat” means pattern (pattern of rows of stitches), but without knowing what the wording actually is, that’s just a best guess.
Any question I’ve had about a pattern has been answered here:

Love, love, love this site!
Knitting patterns do have their own language, but between the link to the abbreviations and the people here, nothing is out of reach!
well now i feel insanely stupid for not figuring THAT out…but i have dilligently read over the pattern, and realized i have another question… how do you slip a stitch? What does that mean? I think its just to changed the size…but then considering that i didnt know what pat meant, im probably wrong.
Slipping a stitch is just moving a loop from your left needle to your right needle without knitting into it. Check out the videos for “sl1k aka sl 1 k-wise” and “sl1p aka sl 1 p-wise” here on the site at http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/abbreviations_explained/
Videos for any instruction you find in the pattern should be there. Enjoy!
