Knitting pattern help

Red sectors

I suspect that the braids are made by creating three strands of I-cord, then braiding them together and then tacking them to the body of the dress.

There are at least 2 kinds of braid going on in the red sections,maybe more. Here is a link to a simplebraid but I think you’re going to have to experiment with different patterns to get the look of some of the braids in the red sections of the picture.

I agree with the other poster though, it looks like strips of stockinette or I cord that are braided. I have a sweater like that with bands of braid up the front edge; they look like cables, but when you look close it’s really strips of stockinette that were braided. Since st st curls, if you knit a strip about 10 or 12 inches wide you’ll get the same effect.

The dress was made that way, not sure about the cable on the white sweater, it may be a cable pattern.
