Knitting Pattern help!

Hi,

I’m not that new to knitting and I do know my way around a pattern, but I badly need to know how a certain pattern is done and I’m completely lost!!!
I’m trying to do a diamond scarf, which is basically a set of diamond shapes knitted one after the other. The final product is supposed to look something like the sample used in the “knitting help” page to show how to increase and decrease stitches. The scarf is also to be in a stockinet stitch.
I can’t seem to figure out how the edge is done on that sample though! I know the body is regular stockinet but what about the border? it looks like stockinet but wouldn’t that cause the scarf to curl?

It’s only 2 sts and because there are incs and decs on the 3rd st in, that may keep it from curling. Could be the edge st was slipped, but that usually curls to the other side too. Or it was blocked severely…
