Knitting pattern confusion

Hi,

I have question about a section I’ve just got onto. It’s the opening back section of a baby’s jumper. I’ve done row 1 and 2 fine. What I’m unsure about is if for the next 16 rows I continue the same pattern (knit the knits and purl the purls because the edging of the back opening has three knit stitches now)? Or is that 3 stitches just for that one row and then I continue as normal. I wasn’t sure if what it meant by ‘edging of back opening was all the way along the edge of the back opening which would give me a flat edge rather than the same pattern or are those three stitches just for that one row and then I continue as normal.Does this make any sense!!

Thanks,

Joe

It’s all along the opening. What is the name of your pattern

Thanks very much for the quick response. I’m a beginner so need a bit of help!! The pattern is BHKC 3 baby jumper. I’ve done the full back now and the side that will have the buttons on is flat up the edge of the opening and the other side with the button holes isn’t however this seems to look fine because when connected with buttons the flat edge fits underneath. I think I’ve done it right! Thanks for your help.

Very sweet!

You can see the back in one of the photos on this project.

Please edit your post to remove the pattern details. The name is usually good enough to get to an online source. We can’t post large portions of patterns due to designer copyright. You can use the pencil icon in the lower right of your post.

Thank you very much for the link. Can’t really see both edges of the opening back section in the picture but I’ve got a feeling the edge section should be on both sides (including the side with the button holes) so when it’s buttoned together they lie flat on top of each other. Has anyone knitted this before who may be able to help.

There are lots of patterns that have the garter edge of both sides. That would work out just fine.
