Hello all! I am a brand new knitter and am trying to make dishclothes. Row six tells me to knit across on the right side. How do I know that I’m on the right side and if not, how do I get there?
The right side is the side of the work that you want to be visible to the world. If you aren’t on the right side, simply work across the back row (wrong side) and you’ll be on the right side row.
And some patterns are reversible like garter stitch, seed stitch or ribbing so you would decide which will be your RS.
Along with what Suzeeq said, if the st patt looks the same on both sides, once you determine which will be RS, mark it with pin or loop of contrasting yarn so you’ll work the instructions on the appropriate side.
Also, some CO edges are very diff RS vs WS. If you look at your CO edge, one side may be visibly diff than the other. That can act as a ref point if you forget to mark.
