So, this will be pretty much complicate. Thing is, I’m knitting from “The Knit Stitch Bible” by Maria Parry-Jones…however, it’s in German. I can speak German perfectly, but I’m not German and had learned how to knit in English. Up until now, the patterns had been working perfectly (stitch patterns, cable patterns, rib, etc.) Now that I decided to try laces, it just doesn’t work. So, let’s take an example and see whether any of you can help me out here:
The Pattern is called “Zelt” - “Tent” (you get diagrams and the legend for the symbols in the back of the book…so I’m translating this into written out form and also from German to English):
CO a multiple fo 10 stitches, plus 5:
Row1: knit, (knit in the front and back of the stitch - I take it that this is a bar increase), (slip one stitch, knit two stitches together and pass the slipped stitch over), (knit in the front and back of the stitch), knit 7, (knit in the front and back of the stitch), (slip one stitch, knit two stitches together and pass the slipped stitch over), (knit in the front and back of the stitch), knit one.
Row 2: purl.
Now, the pattern goes on…but the problem is that I never got past row one. Why? Well, after the ‘knit7’ and the bar-increase after that, I ended up having only one stitch left on the left needle. So, how am I supposed to be slipping it onto the right hand needle and k2tog and then psso.??? What am I doing wrong?
Am I supposed to be slipping the bar-increased stitch back onto the left needle and treat it as the next stitch? Or what am I supposed to do??? HELP, I’m getting really frustrated about this. It’s my first time actually doing increasing and all these…I’d appreciate the help very much! Thank you in advance.
