Hello. I am knitting a sock that has a lace panel on the lateral side of the foot. The instructions are to perform yarnovers and drop yarnover on the next row. After doing yarnover on 4 consecutive rows the instruction says to “Pick up 4 strands of dropped yarnovers. Purl 4 strands together with next stitch.” How do I pick up the 4 intentionally dropped yarnovers strands and purl into next stitch. My first attempt was clearly wrong because it looked like a bungled mess and I had to pull out many rows and start over. FYI…I am knitting the kai-mei sock in the Sock innovation book by cooke a. I would greatly appreciate any help or guidance. You Tube only instructs how to fix dropped yarnovers and I need help with how pick up and purl 4 intentional dropped strands. Thx!

knitting lace in a sock
This is a pretty pattern for very delicate lace.
The idea of the stitch is very similar to the butterfly stitch but worked with a purl. The strands are generated with wraps in the video instead of dropped yarn overs but the method of picking up the loose strands is similar. See especially after 3:00min.

Thank you for the video…I think I can do it now. So appreciate your info so I can continue knitting the sock for my daughter. This is a fantastic website, so happy to have found it. Thank you so sincerely.
