I have knitted my first Jersey in the round and had a few problems where I split of the sleeves, i undid it so many times and tried again but it didn’t matter what I did i always got holes in the armpits. In the spirit of moving on, i did just that but now the Jersey is finished is there anyway / what is the best way to tidy it up? Many thanks!
Your knitting looks lovely and it must be a beautiful sweater. You can take a bit of the yarn and close up those holes. They inevitably happen but next time, when you put the sleeve sts back onto the needle and pick up sts at the underarms, pick up an extra stitch on each side. On the next row, knit the extra stitch together with one of the sleeve sts.
I hope you share a photo in the Whatcha knitting thread. Your knitting does look good. For future use here’s a video to help you avoid the holes. It works in other applications such as mitten thumbs too. Happy knitting.
Wow! That was such a quick easy and neat fix thanks so much! My Jersey is finally complete after all these months! Thanks so much for all your help, I’m not sure if you remember but you have been helping me on and off for months with this project as this was my first Jersey in the round (only my second Jersey ever) my first attempt at fair isle style knitting and chart knitting! A real challenge but also a real success with all the help. I’m a little disappointed that my life lines are still visible after removing them but they were a real necessity!
Thank you! I left out the fact that I have been working on it for 5 months on and off! It was actually more simple than it looked, but I put this down mostly to the quality of the pattern i found it easy to read. It’s not perfect the pattern work is probably a bit tighter than it’s supposed to be but its a pass. Yes I was hoping the lifelines might look a little better after a wash.
It was actually quite enjoyable and no where near as daunting as it looked. Highly recommended the designer, she has some beautiful patterns but they aren’t all in English https://www.strikkezilla.no/
