Reading a chart in the round

Hello, sorry, I cannot seem to download the chart, I can read it but cannot understand it. Row 1 is K 3 purl 5, repeat all the way round. Row 2, knit 3 lift the first stitch over the other 2, then 2 YO into the purl? Then purl 4 more. Row 3 knit 3, but the last stitch is into the previous YO and the chart says to purl 1 YO and drop the other? This is where I am confused. Thanks for any suggestions. Annette
