Knitting in the round - stripes

hello!

I’m trying to knit a striped hat in the round. I’m wondering, is there some kind of trick to do so that the rows of stripes are not uneven/jagged? I thought there was some way to make this smoother but I can’t remember.

I’ve tried the technique that Rachel posted and it works pretty well. Here’s another method I plan on trying.
