So I have done various small projects on my dpn’s. Mostly little play food for my kid. But I am having some problems when I come to a color change (for example I was making candy corn). I manage to make the change just fine, but for some reason once I have switched colors my creation knits up wrong side out. So the bottom will be in St st, and the color change portion looks like garter. Is there something I am doing wrong when I change colors? Should I be purling even though the pattern says knit? I would really appreciate any help I can get!!!
Maybe when you changed colors you picked up the needles and are knitting the wrong way around. Is there a hole where you changed the colors?
There is no hole, and I don’t set the needles down when I change colors so I can’t image how I would be turning them around. Also the rest of the work I have done is right side out so…? Ugh I’m hopeless! lol
If it’s wrong side out then you’re knitting on the inside of the circle. You need to be knitting on the outside. Or you were knitting on the inside to begin with and then started on the outside. Here’s a knitting in the round instructions with photos to show you how you should be holding your project.
I know you’re using DPNs, but this is a good photo showing you how you hold the needles. Your needles should be closer to your body than the project.

You’ll have to take the 2nd color out and start over. Make sure that you begin again with the knit sts on the outside and the needles closer to you as shown in the pictures Jan linked.
Thank youuu!!
