Knitting from double method cast on?

Hi everyone!

I’m a new knitter, learning on my own, and I’m trying to figure out how to knit from the double method cast on and getting completely confused. I know I’m casting on correctly, but when I try to proceed by knitting normal, it goes crazy! Can any one give me some help? :frowning:

What do you mean by going crazy? Are you knitting correctly? Maybe your work is on the wrong side. Always remember that the first three rows are hardest of all, and they are sometimes tricky. Knit at least 4 rows and then see how it goes. You could even try using a different type of yarn. Good luck!

Did you try casting on with needles a size larger than you knit with? When I first started knitting, I had such a hard time until a good friend told me to cast on in a size larger and knit with the size I had intended to. I found that I was casting on WAY too tightly and that when I went to knit I wasn’t pulling my stitches downward because they were so tight. Then my first couple of rows were very twisted and knotted looking. Good luck! :aww:

When you put your needle in to knit, make sure you insert it into the 1st st on the left needle, not between the first 2.
