knitting dog sweater in the round

Dog sweater

This dog sweater linked above here, is knitted in the round top down from what I understand, but yet the diagrams are shown to be knit back and forth. Do I just knit the diagrams from right to left continuously when knitting in the round or do I stop after the collar and then do the rest in pieces so I can do the back and forth? It says knitting in the round at the beginning and then later back and forth. I am so confused

Wow, that is good-looking and warm!
Work the charts from right to left only in the round. In the sections that are knit back and forth, read the charts right to left on RS (right side) rows and left to right on WS (wrong side) rows.

The sweater is a combination of in the round followed by back and forth for the legs then in the round finally ending with back and forth for the back flap.

The sweater starts out in the round at the neck and chest. When you get to the split for the legs you’ll knit across the stomach, cast off a stitch then knit across the back. Continue knitting the back flat or back and forth for the given length. The sts from the front can go on a holder or waste yarn until you need to knit them. At a given length the back sts go on a holder or waste yarn. Once you’ve reached the length for your size on the stomach sts, all the sts are joined and worked in the round until you cast off some of the stomach sts and knit only that back flap back and forth.
