Knitting a V-pattern and need help

Hello… I am new to knitting and have been asked to finish a baby afghan for a child yet to be born, but the Grand-mother passed away. It is started, but I am not able to figure out the pattern. I am more of a crochet-man! LOL I see that it is just all knit stitch, so that is easy, but I’m unsure hoe to do the increase and decrease stitches to make the V-shape. I would greatly appreciate any help you can give. Thanks, Jim from Indiana

If you can let us know what pattern it is, or post a picture of what it looks like so far, that’ll help us a lot. Maybe it’s a chevron pattern?

If you’d like to see various increases and decreases, go to the Free Videos tab at the top of the page and look under Increases and Decreases. There are a number of increases that should work for you including knit front and back or picking up the bar between sts. A simple knit 2together will give you a right slanting decrease and a slip, slip, knit, (ssk) a left slanting decrease.
That’s so kind of you to finish off this afghan.
