Knitting a tube for elastic in longies

SS for about 2.5 inches

On the next round, pick up the cast on edge of the first stitch and slip it onto the left hand needle. Knit that stitch and the next stitch together.

Keep picking up the cast on edge as you go and k2tog to form a tube

~ I dont understand when it says pick up the cast on edge of the first stitch? and move it to the left needle? Im working on circular needles so all the stitches start on the left needle.

Its supposed to form a tube so that I could put elastic in.

I have a feeling Im going to come back here alot… This is the very begining of the longies…

It sounds to me like at the beginning of the next rwo, when all your stitches are on the righ needle, you will then start picking up the cast on edges and then knitting them.Sorry I am no good at explaining but I hope this helps alittle bit untilsomeone else comes than explains it better than me.

yes, just slip your left point through the cast on stitch and knit it together with the next stitch.

Thanks.
