Knitting a hat without knitting in the round?

Is it possible to do this with multiple needles or with just two? Please help me!

If you use multiple needles then you would most likely be knitting in the round on DPNs… you can knit a hat flat on 2 straight needles and then seam it up… you would just have to look through these patterns and see which are knit in round/flat… or trying google for some…

Thanks so much!

Sorry, I meant without knitting using a circular needle. That’s what I thought “knitting in the round” meant

Knitting in the round can be done with circular or double-pointed needles. If you want to knit a hat flat and seam it up, here is a good basic pattern. You can leave out the design to make it simpler.

i saw a beginner pattern in a learn to knit book for a hat (on straight needles). There was no binding off needed, once the square was big enough, you just laced yarn through the stitches on the needle, slipped them all off and pulled both ends of the yarn and tied them in a knot, then you sewed up the seams and you were done… hat!
