Knitter with limited experience needs help with pattern

I want to make this scarf labeled “easy” however, I don’t know how to do part of it. The pattern reads, k1, p1, -that I got- then (k into 2nd st on LH needle, k into 1st st on LH neede, sl both sts to RH needle) rep to last…
I’m lost. Can you help me?

What you’re doing is making a little cable. Just knit into the second stitch on the left hand needle first, without sliding anything off. Then knit into the stitch closest to the end of the left needle and then slide both off. This will twist them as if you did a cable.
