Knitter down! Knitter down!

I know better than to try and cut open a pork tenderloin package with a steak knife. I really do. But, since I have done it a hundred times without slicing my finger open, I thought I was safe.

Wrong!

So, now my index finger on my left hand has a huge slice right on the pad of my finger. And a huge band aid on top of that.

I have things to knit! No time for this! I tried to work around it but if I put any pressure on it, it hurts. I am guessing it will be a few more days before I can work through it.

So, I say to myself, self, what can we do with a bum finger? Shop for yarn! So, help me out. Show me what I must get, what I cannot live without, a great sale, a great deal, the coolest new pattern. I need to not be bummed out about not being able to knit. I need to be distracted with pretty yarn to buy,

Ooooooouuuuuuch! I’m so sorry to hear about this poor finger! I think you have the right attitude, though. You can still shop for yarn. And patterns, and new addi turbos and… Get well soon, finger! samm

My latest love is eBay. I am surprised at how much stuff I can get for good prices!

Ouch! That hurts just thinking about it. But you’ve got a positive attitude! I just got my order of this yarn today (from WEBS): http://www.yarn.com/specials/garagesale/elena.html
It’s so beautiful! Go up to specials…there’s lots of good stuff on their closouts/garage sales pages. Have fun!!

Oh, I feel for you! Here’s hoping that it heals real quick.

One of the first times I used a rotary cutter (for quilting), I sliced the tip of my pinkie finger so bad a chunk of fingertip almost came off. That was the one and only time I’ve ever almost fainted. Got the grayness on the edges of my vision and everything! And the thing that ended up bugging me the most was that I couldn’t finish the darn quilt I was working on. :roflhard:

Wow, that stinks! when did you do this? Are you sure you don’t need stitches? Eek, that makes my fingers hurt.

I agree with Carmen about eBay. click the “you know you want to” link in my sig for my KAL thread, where I post a link to a yarn seller in Turkey who just sold me the yarn for my waterlily top. The shipping wasn’t outrageous, for being international, the yarn arrived much faster than promised, and he left me feedback first, which I consider a mark of a good seller. There are other great yarn sellers on eBay, too.

Good luck and healthy healing!

No, no stitches. Just a clean slice deep enough to hurt but not deep enough to need a stitch.

Or at least that is what I am telling myself.

My sympathies!

(I cut my hand open a piece of sheet metal once and I had to learn to throw with my middle finger; if a distinctly dexterity-challenged person like me can learn it out of desperation, I know you could. Only if you get really desperate, however. I’d hate for your poor finger to suffer more.)

This is my favorite shop. They’ll send you anything and they care luscious Montana-raised-and-spun homespun wool.

People, people! WHEN will we learn to hold our hands delicately up in the air like a surgeon, and not do those menial tasks that put us at risk of not being able to knit?! :roflhard: :roflhard:

No, seriously, I hope that gets better very quickly. What a bummer.

I’m so sorry :frowning: …I feel your pain…I couldn’t knit for a couple of months bc of sprained wrists…it really stunk! But, as you said…you can still shop

I love this forum. Now I learn what to do when injured and unable to knit…Shop for yarn! What a great bunch of women here.

Hope this finds you beating the healing records unless you are having a great time shopping.
