Knitted Vest

I am using a Fred Shapiro pattern from the book "Up the Back and Down the Front."
The pattern says 'both sides of Front are worked at the same time using separate yarn for each side.
Does anyone know what this means???
Are there any instructions on the I-net???

Is it open in the front or a pullover? If a pullover they could mean both sides of the neck at the same time. OR if it has an open front it could mean you’re making both pieces at the same time, perhaps on a circ ndl (or 14" if the item is small enough for that length to accommodate all the sts).

Do you have a link to the patt or a pic? Is it the patt at lower left of this page?

It sounds like you’d work up the back and BO for the neck, then work each shoulder separately and down the front for R and L fronts. You would attach another ball of yarn somewhere in there (the pattern will say) and work across the BO as if it were one row, but it will be split.

This is the exact book!!! LA-3412. The vest I am trying to make is the whitish-beige one on the model sitting on the dock… I wish the actual instructions in the booklet were clearer…
Thank for the help…
