Knitted too many stitches

I’m knitting my friend a plush penguin for her birthday, and one part of the pattern said to knit 18 stitches of black, 8 of white, and 18 more stitches of black. BUT…I accidentally misread it, and thought it said 18 for all of them. Now I have way too much white on the row…What should I do? I’m too far into the project to start over…

(It’s on reagular flat knitting needles, if that changes anything.)

You wouldn’t have to rip it all out, would you, just go back to where that section begins, take out the row to where you’ve got 18 black and 8 white sts, then switch to the black.
