Knitted Bears

A friend of mine let me borrow a book that she bought (but never used), with a bunch of Bear pattern (it’s a Sandra Polley book. Do you think that I can do any of these or are these patterns a bit advanced for a guy like me???

You never know unless you try. Every pattern is one stitch at a time, one row at a time. And you certainly can get all the help and advice you need here!

Glen, GREAT bears!! You can do it!! Have faith!

Oh wow, those are sooo cute. My DD was wanting to make some felted bears for her cousins for Xmas. I’ll have to see if I can find that book for her. Some of the patterns for toys that are out there are scary looking.

I say go for it. And let me know how it goes cause I think it would be fun to make one.

I just spent 1/2 hour looking through all the stuff animals books listed on Amazon. Thanks alot Glen!

I’m curious as to how many of you have knitted stuffed animals and how’d they turn out?

Hey dude!! I have that book too!!!

ahem

ekgheiy puts on her theatre garb…*

Alas, I’ve not the occasion to journey such great distance to its place on “Things To Knit” list; henceforth, it pains mine heart to report to thee that I’ve not a single bear that has been born of ekgheiy’s precious needles. I pray thee, do report with words and photographs once a bear has been born of thine needles??

Looks like I’m going to be making some bears!

Looks like you already decided, but I would definitely say go for it too!

I just started knitting a few months back and take a stab at whatever pattern I like. I did give up on one pattern since I just got a little confused, but other than that one, I like to try new things and see what happens. I figured I can go back to that one pattern soon. There are just so many things to knit out there! :XX:

Can’t wait to see the bear!

What’s the worst thing that could happen? You get to go shopping for yarn. Maybe you need some new needles to go with the yarn. Maybeee you see some thingy at your LYS that you think with help you with the project. Maybe you get to post questions and pictures of the project at KH. :?? I can’t seem to find a reason not to go for it. :roflhard: :roflhard:

OH NO!!!

I just saw 2 more things that I had to make… Sam The Ram & Sue The Ewe.
I’m going to have a Zoo here in no time!! :XX:

BTW… I’m almost done with the Bear that I stared last night  . I’ll be sure to post a picture (most likely a distant pic), when I’m done.

After making my alpaca------I NEED to make those sheep!! Is there a pattern available, somewhere, anywhere!!!

Hey Ingrid…
I found the patterns at Earth Heart Designs. Their web site says that many of their patterns are sold at your favorite LYS. The web price is $10.00 each. Maybe I can get a discount from my LYS manager…

Plese let me know if you find any other really kewl patterns…

We’re talking 10 bucks here! When I get a new car, I’ll call you about a disount! I’m going to order them today!

to put in the pile of all the other patterns I will do some day!

Those sheep are too cool. I really like the one with the cables.

Can’t wait to see the bear!

OMG there is just TOO much CUTENESS going on in this thread!!! Cant wait to see a pic of your QUICK ZIPPY bear!

KK…Where’s your bunny??? I liked that one

Here she is… Any suggestions for a name???

Nice job, Glen! I asked my 5yo what the bear’s name is, she said “Sara!” I told her that I didn’t think so. We’ve decided that Matilda is a good name, though.

(Everything has been named Sara lately.)

GREAT job!!

I think some variation on her Ivory color…Ivy?
No…that says GREEN to me.

Although, Lila popped into my head when I looked at her…

For some reason, when I saw that face, I thought Gregory. Why? I have no idea. Great bear, though!! And you weren’t sure you could do it. :happydance:
