So my FIL was at the Dr. office the other day & said he saw an article about knit graffiti, anyone heard of this? I hadn’t & wondered if you think it would be tacki in your town, or if you’d like to participate? Just curious, & I figured it was a ‘general’ knitting topic.
I’ve seen the pictures—It seems cute, but I can’t see spending money on yarn for those purposes!
I think it’s a really neat idea… Besides, who wants all that acrylic any ways?
I love it. It’s guerrilla art with needles and yarn; fun to look at and wonder about. I think it makes people more aware of their environments–always a good thing. And it’s worldwide now!
But why do they say it’s a bunch of “ladies” when there is obviously at least one gentleman involved?
I think this is the same group that I saw on a Knitty Gritty special (it was one hour long). It started with one of the members knitting a cover for the door handle to her store. They go out at night, like on a covert mission, and put knitted items on things like light poles, trees, stop sign poles, etc. Then they leave a ‘Knitta’ tag with their handiwork.
I don’t think I would want to knit for a light pole, but I don’t see any harm in it if someone else wants to do it. :teehee:
I personally wouldn’t do it, as I have other things I want to knit. And as for acrylic I’d rather use if for charity blankets & stuff.
As to the other part of your q: If it would be tacky in your town… Um, my town is VERY small… Mostly older people (and none of them knit! How unfair is that???) and I doubt they’d appreciate my knitting ANY more than they do now if I started knitting stuff for the light poles. But if I were still near KU I might.
