I bought the color card and one ball of Palette to knit it up and see how I like it. If it works well as a fair isle yarn, it will save me beaucoup bucks!
Since this is a test ball, if anyone’s interested, let me know and I’ll knit up a swatch in the gauge you want and post pics. The recommended gauge is 7-8 stitches in 1" on size 1 to 3 needles.
I’ve looked at this yarn and would like to make socks with it. You don’t have to make a swatch specifically for me, but I’d love to see a knitted piece.
Thanks Silver, what a sweetie u r!!
I’m expecting 19 balls of it in a day or 2 for socks…lol! Hope that it works well for socks!! I have severa; lace pattern socks that I wanted done in just these colors and a couple of texture patterns for Lonnie. Then if I really like I want to get the sample box to do a load of colorwork socks and the sample box would just be perfect…actually Lonnie said that he would order it for me the 1st of the month when he saw it in the catalog…but I will give it a wait; I should have enough leftover yarn to do a pair or 2 of socks to just play around with color.
I thought it was coming today…soon, very soon
Yeah that sample box is awesome. It’s over 6000 yards of yarn! I could make a boatload of fair isle gloves and mittens. I’m SOOOO excited about this yarn. I LOVE KNITPICKS!!
I tried to explain my excitement to DH, but he just didn’t get it. Not until I told him the price difference compared to other yarns. lol Men and money.
I’ll post a pic of my swatch when I’m finished. I have one more baby mitten to knit, then I’ll do that swatch.
Thanks, can’t wait to see it!
Gosh, Lonnie had heard me talking about ‘palette’ and saw it right away when he was looking at the catalog (he doesn’t normally look at it…just bc of the socks!) and said he was going to get it for me… he’s so sweet and I’m so spoiled ! But…I jumped ahead and ordered anyway…but, in my defense, it was to make solid color socks…and Lonnie wasn’t upset that I did that at all, he said that he would order the sample box anyway, but I told him that I found out that it would be around for a while and he was cool with it, said he would get it for me later. Then…I thought about it… and felt BAD bc my dear, sweet husband offers to buy this for me and I just go off & order it anyway!! It didn’t bother him at all…but made me feel :verysad:
KQ, thanks for saying such nice things about my honey man
I will very happily admit that my husband is one in a billion!! Today I got another surprise…a book in the mail…‘Knitting in the Round’…from my sweet, hunky man !!
He knows me better than I know myself…knows what I like and will get it for me every chance he gets I am…the LUCKIEST wife in the whole wide world and would gladly shout it from the rooftops!!
He should start a public campaign about the importance of buying PRESENTS for one’s wife…CONSTANTLY and PROLIFICALLY! What if all of us KH gals pooled our money…do you think we could come up with enough for a quick TV spot during, maybe the SUPERBOWL??? :roflhard:
Hmmm, like maybe instead of ‘have you driven a Ford lately’ we say ‘have you spent money on your wife and unexpectedly bought her a present lately’?? I like it…
My DH is sweet, but I wish he would do stuff like that for me - it just never crosses his mind… :??
I told him about Palette, and that I really wanted it, and he actually showed a bit of interest, but was immediately sidetracked by blah blah NASCAR blah blah football player blah blah baseball…doesn’t he understand this is YARN I’m talking about here??? He would never think to buy it for me just because I mentioned I would like it…but he brings me flowers unexpectedly, and that’s always nice…
That’s right PHrebecca…your dh and everyone’s does their special things for you … unexpected flowers! …KK…having a romantic anniversary date planned…and having a hubby that soooooo appreciated his romantic anniversary breakfast!!
Most guys just think much differently than girls. I happen to have gotten a husband that thinks far differently than most men…about just about everything! He does housework & clothes, etc…not just when I’m laid up and can’t do it…but just to do it! He loves to go shopping…not many men love to go shopping…Lonnie does; he picks his mom up every Sat for ‘their’ time together and has been doing that for years; she now stays with us every weekend…but they still spend their special time together. He is truly exceptional!!
Of course…your sweeties are exceptional, too…perhaps in different ways…we are all different…!!
Back many, many years ago, I would leave notes about things that I liked…lol! Of course, I don’t do that anymore (not about gifts …still leave notes, if u get what I’m saying ). So, if you want your sweetness to buy you something special, maybe he needs guidance…perhaps a note…"Insert name here, I would love it if you took more interest in something that I really enjoy like :XX: knitting and I would love to take interest in state activity here that you like! As a matter of fact, if you would explain a bit about chosen activity, I would love to surprise you with a gift for this activity! And maybe you could do the same for me with knitting…It would be fun to :present: surprise each other with stuff that I know that you like and want and that you know that I like and want…we could do that a lot…it would be fun :eyebrow: ; and :present: rewarding "
Oh, you know I certainly cant complain…my DH is fabulicous. He calls me on his way home from work every night to see if I need anything, he never fails to bring me chocolate cake at THAT time of the month, he does all of the cooking (THATS a BIGGY) and clips arlicles out of the paper that he knows I would like to read. He always finds cool new (or just different) restaurants for us to try, and he is GREAT to travel with. I know he’s ALWAYS thinking of me. He just doesnt buy me knitting stuff, that’s all…
Kelly, he does seem like a lovely man. But do you think that when you come home with 68 balls of yarn, he thinks he needs to buy you more? It seems that you take very good care of yourself in that department!
:verysad: K, me n Hilde’ll be over here when y’all are done…
BTW Hildie, what a cute little baldie hubby you’ve got!!! Love the pic of him n Stanley…DH doesn’t like the camera, runs away screaming with his face covered… :??
I may try the note thing, altho DH already gets rewarded :eyebrow: enough as it is…although, like yarn, there are some things you can never have too much of! :roflhard:
This is very true…some…well…several, actually :eyebrow: rewards are for both … the really good ones, anyway :eyebrow: .
We have been married for 16 years and I still put notes in Lonnie’s lunch box now & then, leave sweet notes around the house…write in lipstick on the mirror…send gifts & cards to work; it’s fun to do these things with the one u love , don’t u think?!
Here’s a swatch knit on size 3 needles. It is 24 sts by 28 rows and is 3.25" wide and 2.75" long. Measurements are taken within the garter stitch border.
My opinion on this yarn:
It’s a nice enough yarn, but a little itchy. It’s not as soft as I hoped it would be. I wouldn’t use this for baby items, or a next-to-skin sweater. (I’m disappointed about that.)
For socks, gloves, hats, scarves, etc, I think it’s great, and the color choices are wonderful. I would knit it on size 0s, 1s or maybe 2s. On size 3s it’s a bit flimsy for my liking. But that’s just my opinion.
:notworthy: Thank you, thank you, dear Silver…just what I needed it for!! I was very pleased with my load that I got yesterday…all for socks, of course!!
Yes…we will have many socks with this palette
Thanks for going to the trouble, bud
