Hi all,
First post here and a total beginner. So I found a pattern for socks online and I don’t understand this line.
“K48, turn, p32. Working on center 32 sts continue in stocking st until instep measures 4.5(5.5,6.5)”"
I know the abbreviations but how do I knit 48, and only purl 32 on the other side? am I suppose to knit the others?
Hope this isn’t a silly question
Thank you all!
Hi. Can you link to your pattern? That would be helpful.
Not silly at all. It looks like you’re working short rows, in which you leave the other stitches unworked until you get to the next set of instructions. Don’t knit them or do anything to them–just pretend they aren’t there until the pattern says otherwise.
That makes sense, this could be the heel flap.
Socks are a very ambitious project for a “total beginner.” Have you mastered knits, purls, increases, decreases, using dpns or magic loop, short rows? All of which you will need in order to be able to make a pair of socks.
