I have also used a bead-type golf counter for larger needle projects although they only go to ten.

What’s a lifeline, please?
A lifeline or several saves ripping back when you make a mistake in a project. If you can’t correct the mistake, you only have to rip back to the last lifeline and then slide the sts onto a needle.
