Knit tbl and twist st

I am making this (http://www.knitting-crochet.com/meniricar.html) sweater for my dad. I have a couple questions on the pattern and I am hoping you might be able to help me out…

Row 1: P 2; * skip next st (I don’t slip, right…just skip?) , k in BACK LOOP of next st (I know how to k tbl but am I supposed to slip this stitch over or leave it on? If I leave it on, do I just slip it over after I do the next st?), k skipped st (TWIST ST); (so I twist it before I st it, right?) k 3, p 2, repeat from * across row.

Row 2 and all even rows: K 2, * p 5, k 2, repeat from * across row.

Row 3: P 2, * k 1, work TWIST ST on next 2 sts (what exactly do they mean work twist st? Just twist before I knit it?), k 2, p 2, repeat from * across row.

Thanks so much for your guidance!!

A twist stitch is like a teeny cable. You do it by knitting the stitches out of order.

On the first row, skip over the st closest to the point of the next needle, and leaving it there, knit into the back loop of the next stitch. Pull your yarn through, but don’t slide anything off. Then put your right tip into the stitch you skipped like a regular knit. Pull your yarn through and slide them both off. You will have created a twist stitch.

On row 3 when they say to work the twist stitch, you do it the same way you did it above.

So I don’t have to twist anything, it will do it on its own, right?

Thanks Ingrid!!!
