Knit into front and back (KFB)

Question: when pattern calls for knit into the front and back of the stitch… how many stitches am I actually making ( I know it’s an increase) but am I making 2 stitches or 3 stitches on the same stitch??

Thanks :muah:

You are actually only increasing by one stitch. When you knit into the front you are working that one stitch and then working into the back creates the one new stitch.

There are some patterns which have been asked about, that state to knit into the front, the back, and the front of a stitch. That’s making 3 sts out of 1, but isn’t the same as the standard kfb.
