Knit Increase Question

I’m working on a pattern that asks for the following: “inc. 1 st in the next st knitway” & as I am sort of new to knitting (I’ve figured out how to read sock patterns & am now branching out to other things), I am not clear on the sort of increase they are asking for here. Is this a “make one” increase? Or is it a knit in the back & front of the stitch increase? Or something else completely different?

Thanks for any and all help!

Hello there!!
I am assuming since they don’t specify what type of increase to work, you choose your favorite method. I think that by “knitways”, they mean to insert the needle as if to knit a stitch (as opposed to a purl increase). I personally would just do a bar increase (knit in front and back of stitch).
Hope that was a little help.

Ahhhh, I seee… I thought those were instructions for some sort of magical increase that I hadn’t learned the code for!

I think I will try doing what you suggest; the bar increase.

Thanks so much for the response.
