Knit in the round

For a hat pattern that is not a “knit in the round pattern”, can I go ahead and knit in the round using the pattern as is?

Welcome to KH. Converting from knitting flat to in the round or vice versa will require some modifications. A link to your pattern will help us help you. Stockinette in the round is all knits and garter stitch in the round is alternating knit rounds and purl rounds. From there it can be more complicated.
