I am trying to do kitchner stitch on my first sock.I watched Amy’s vidoe, but she doesnt tell me what to do when I only have 1 stitch left on each needle??? I start out with 10 stitches on eack needle,but how do I end it??? Help me please… :verysad:
Here’s another kitchener video you can look at. It shows what to do at the end.
For the last two stitches on the needle;
Continue as you did before so its purl slip off the needle on front needle, as you don’t have another stitch to knit into on the front needle just pull it tight. Then knit slip the last stitch on the back needle, again you don’t have another stitch to purl into so just slip it off the needle and pull it tight. What I then do is pass the needle through to the other side of the sock and sew in the end into the toe line before snipping the left over thread off completely.
Hope this helps!
Jane,
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
. I knew I could count on the people here for help! :notworthy:
Mulene,
Thank you to you too! Sissy
That is a fab video, Jane! I just finished a pair of baby socks and I kitchenered the first one with Amy’s video (my first attempt ever :)), but that one is just slightly more detailed.
Thank you!

It took me so long to let Kitchener “click” with me and I don’t know what my problem was with learning it, but now…I use it everywhere I can.
There are a number of videos on that site that I think compliment Amy’s videos well. I really like the way she does her provisional cast on.
Wow …that is an easy way to do kitchener stitch… much clearer than the one that i learnt… this one better for sure…thanks Jane
