Ok, so I finished my first pair of house socks. :cheering:
I did the Kitchener stitch (using the video here)…BUT…the beginning and end of the toe (kitchener stitch part) has bumps. Is that right? If not, what do I need to do to not have the bumps? Also, was unclear about what to do with the last 2 stitches for the final bind off.
The whole idea of Kitchener stitch is to avoid bumps. It was invented either by or at the request of Col. Kitchener of the British army so that the soldiers’ feet wouldn’t get rubbed raw by bumpy seams inside their boots on long marches.
I suggest you watch, closely, a video tutorial on the stitch and pay special attention to the placement of yarn for the beginning and end. It may be that you just need to adjust tension, but you might have the working yarn placed wrong.
wow I guess there is something wrong with me.
I haven’t had a problem with ears on Kitchener, and I like doing kitchener, but I can’t understand those photos!
I must go back and look in the morning.
Sometimes I lose brain power at this time of day.
