Yep, this deadline has forced me to judiciously cut my knit gift list to
those who I know really enjoy the hand knits. Everyone else will be
getting something store bought so hopefully there won’t be any
complaints…nope, I’m not that lucky…someone will complain!

I don’t handknit christmasgifts for my family. I’m just way to slow, I should start in January to finish in time. Besides that, I’m not sure if they’d appreciate it. And I hate deadline-knitting.
Don’t worry lieke I am a slow knitter too(I have a icky rheumatoid condition which causes some setbacks) so even a small sock takes me a while to do which can be very frustrating but I can say one thing…the plus is that when the FO is complete I truly treasure it:heart:
I guess I’m fortunate that I’m a fast knitter but I have to say it’s not
something I aspired to haha I only realized recently that I must knit
fast! I think in my case it was just a matter of necessity to get
things done. I taught myself to knit right after having my dd and
was really slow but I was doing it to relax so didn’t care. The older
she has gotten the more of my time she demands so I have a limited
time for knitting and I guess subconsciously I started getting faster
and faster just so I could get things done in the short time each day.
I think if you are enjoying your knitting it doesn’t matter if you are
fast or slow!

Yes, I feel like that as well. I’m currently wearing a recent FO which took me almost a year. I totally love the cardi and knowing it took me almost a year makes me love it even more.
I know how long a sock can take. If I finish one in a month, I’m really pleased with myself, because that’s really fast. I guess I only managed to finish anklets within a month.
I totally agree with you. The only thing that matters is if you enjoy you knitting. That’s why I don’t do deadline-knitting. I just don’t enjoy the stress. It doesn’t relax me as knitting is supposed to do. In contrast of you, I didn’t start knitting faster when I got less time (due to my internship and now masterpaper I’m currently working on), but I did enjoy the little bit of knitting time I had more. I guess I’m a bit of a process-knitter, I just love to knit.
