Kiri Yarn

I am going to be making the Kiri Shawl for my mother soon, and I was wondering if you could use Microspun because it is cheap and thin. I know it is acrylic, but does this stuff block at all? Here is what an unblocked Kiri looks like. If not, does anyone have any suggestions for some light, blockable thin yarn for Kiri?

I would definately go for a wool for high wool blend. Microfiber won’t block well.

Microspun doesn’t block like you usually want for lace, pluse its horrible splitty.:wall: I love Zephyr for lace and it comes in Dk weight if you don’t want to deal with lace weight. This place is great:cheering: and has both at a good price http://www.sarahsyarns.com/JSZephyr.html. Looks like you would need 2-3 2oz balls for your shawl.

50% fine grade Merino wool.
50% Chinese Tussah silk.
That sounds heavenly. and only $37 for 5,040 yards. Have you ordered from Sarah’s Yarns before? Has the order taken long to arrive? I have about a month to make it.

I’ve ordered from Sarah’s yarns and if I recall, they were pretty fast.

I have just ordered the Jaggerspun Zephyr from Sarah’s Yarns. I am so easily convinced it is ridiculous, but who isn’t when faced with cheap yarn?:rofling: Hopefully it will arrive quickly!

FYI- lace benefits from wet blocking more so than any other type.

I will have to remember that. Thanks!

And, Knit Picks has a very large lesson specifically on blocking lace on their Knitting Room section. It was very informative for me.

That really helped! I’ve already read through the article once and plan on reading it through a few more times. I wouldn’t have found that if you hadn’t mentioned it.
