Kinda OT: Roseanne Repeats

Ok, so I was raised with Roseanne, yet I still can’t pull myself away from the repeats in the middle of the night. Last night I saw one fo the first episodes, the first one where Roseanne’s parents were on the show, I believe. I always noticed throughout the series that Bev was almost always wearing something handmade, be it crochet or knit, but never did I see her actually working on something. In this episode, she had something going on aluminum DPNs at a speed close to that of Karen Baumer. It was amazing and not only was she working on DPNs, but she was WALKING while working on DPNs in one part. It’s always cool to see people knitting on TV, but I think that’s the first time I’ve seen knitting on DPNs on TV, and definitely the first time I’ve seen it so deftly by an actor/actress. She’s clearly quite an experienced knitter. I just love that.

I thought this was super cool and had to share.

I’ve seen that one, too, and I was totally blown away! I think there are a couple other episodes that show her knitting, too. She’s amazing.

I’ve noticed that Tyne Daly’s character on Judging Amy is quite a knitter as well!

I love Roseanne! The IRL person may be a bit of a troubled soul. But that show was SO hilarious!!!

I never noticed the mom knitting or crocheting before (I haven’t watched it since I started knitting), and now I’ll have to watch for it.

How cool that she was doing an actual project!

I love watching Roseanne too, the earlier ones are much better than the later ones though. I think I remember seeing that episode too. I was going to mention Tyne Daly’s character on Judging Amy too! I’ve seen George Lopez’s wife and Jim Belushi’s wife on their shows knit too. There’s a couple of other shows but at the moment, I can’t think of them-oh wait! I think one of them was Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.

There’s a kids’ show on Nick called Drake and Josh that has a knitting mother and daughter (the character is nine and a half, but I’m sure the actress is a bit older).

I walk and knit on circulars and dpn’s all the time. It’s not as tricky as you’d think it might be.

I don’t have cable so I can’t watch Roseanne… :crying:
I used to love that show. So funny. But I didn’t knit back then, so I never noticed it.
Foldedbird, what a cute picture! And, uh, is that a monkey at your waist?

The only thing that I remember from Roseanne {since I avoided watching it as much as possible!}, was the gawdawful crocheted granny square afghan on the back of the couch. I have a “thing” about “stereotypical” crocheted stuff, and that afghan just gives me the shivers!

It’s funny you mention that afghan…it would repeatedly get stolen, and they had to make new ones…they finally permanently attached it, and no more theft!!

NO WAY! Who would steal that? Fans who snuck into the the theater? Stage hands? What the…

I always wondered about the sweaters of the character Bev, Do you think she made themm all herself? Foldbird, cute picture!

I did a google search to see if I could back up “what I thought I might have possibly, thought about reading???”…lol…and all I could find was things stolen from Afganistan…I put “stolen afghan Roseanne Show” or something like that in google…but I KNOW I read it somewhere…I’d just like to know where now…rofl…

I know I’m kinda hijacking the thread, but if you’ve seen the original Willy Wonka movie, Charlie’s Grandma Josephine is seen knitting once or twice, and she was fast!

Yes, that IS a monkey at my waist. That’s Teensy, our uh, mascot. Usually our mascot is an appletini, but you’re not allowed to imbibe at Race for the Cure. Silly rules.

Thanks yall.

What a cool thing to be a knitter and and actress, and to be able to knit something while you’re working as “part of your character”, huh?

The maid on Will and Grace is a knitter. She was on an episode of Knit One Purl Two and she said she knitted and crocheted one year for Christmas presents for the cast and crew and claimed she would never do that again. I have also seen her knit on the show.

The actress who plays Roseanne’s sister was in a recent episode of Monk. Monk had amnesia after being mugged. She hoodwinked Monk into thinking he was her husband. There is a scene of Monk holding a huge ball of yarn while she is knitting.
