Kelly's Denise needle problem: resolved?

Hey Kelly! I"m still sittin’ on the fence over the needle choice. That’s a great review Kemp did, showing the pictures and all.

I just wondered if you solved the problem you had with your needles? I haven’t searched extensively for a post about that, maybe I missed it. What was the outcome?

OH! I just had to mail the broken one back with $1 for shipping on the replacement cord…NO problem!

Thanks Kel! you are so quickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

I’m convinced the Denise are better needles but mannnnnnn I still like the colors of the Boyes! Going to go to a lys and see if I can try them. probably not.

vic, vic, vic… :XX: U can go to LYS & try out the denises and the boyes and the boyes colors may be prettier…but, I, like kelly…STAND BY MY DENISES!! If color is what may sway u to buy…think of the color of the YARN that u will be knitting (much more comfortably and faster, i might add) on your denises. Ok, let me tell u something stupid :wall: I did…I’ve been working on this afghan for a few weeks (2 really…1 week I didn’t even knit)…so I decide to use a suze 10 circ, like it calls for…BUT…in walks my stupidity…(make yourself at home  )…I get out a set of bates that i used to use all of the time (before my denises) and i can’t stop the curling (not even with the hot water)…and do u know when I finally changed to my denises? …LAST NITE!!!  I was absolutely shocked with myself (in my defense…i have periods of stupidity bc I’m going thru early menopause…that sounds good, right?!).
All that said to tell u that i am now happily knitting with my denises…doing so swiftly, comfortably…and no twisty cords!!
AND denises are less expensive!!
Just don’t let all of my boughts of stupidity over the last 2 weeks influence u against the denises, k!? (for reall…I have a very good reason, it’s just kinda personal)
THE DENISE INTERCHANGEABLES ARE THE BEST
I need for these guys and knitpicks to pay me for ads…lol!!

Denise…the winning choice…

:rofling: :rofling: :rofling: :rofling: :rofling: :rofling: :rofling:

:notworthy: :notworthy: we all know and oh so  amy…but…that thing u said, vic that mom said (have no idea how to sp. it & don’t wanna look back… )…amy, HRH that she is and all :notworthy: :notworthy: …she don’t know everything…specially about DENISES!!!
Oh…and vic…ahhh…yeah. :— …the set’s in the mail…yeah :— that’s the ticket…u should :— be gettin’ 'em soon :—
IN RUNS HRH AMY :notworthy: :notworthy: (from the footmen & ladies in waiting & pots& pan washers…u know…us… :roflhard: :roflhard: ) back to story… HRH IS APPROACHING :fingerwag: :fingerwag: AND SETS THAT LYING REBECCA (imposter by the way…but did HRH have that part put in caps…well…noooo, but I’m not bitter) :fingerwag: ON THE STRAIGHT & NARROW & LETS IT BE KNOWN…NO :— IN HERE!! Moral of the story…watch out for HRH Amy and the finger… :fingerwag:

I purchased my Denise’s based on these rave reviews, and received them from that numei site within 2 days! (With free shipping!!) I was sold by the pics that showed how the cords attached to the needles – not as much of a gap in which the yarn might catch. I really like my Addi circular that I’m working with now, and the Denises looked very similar in that regard. My only concern is that I really like the feel of the metal, but I’m hoping that the light weight will trump the metal feeling.

I can’t wait to try them – they look awesome! I’ve been a real geek showing them to people – and ooing and ahing over how purfectly they fit in their cute, blue case – hehe. Apparently it is only my friends on this site that can appreciate that because I’ve had many an eye rolled at me lately  !!!

Holly

Holly, I’m glad that u got them & seem to be enjoying them!! But…I will be absolutely honest about me and denises and addis…if I have to do a quick project that needs to be done really quickly…I’ll grab addis…results, tho, for real, is that my hands will be sore. I don’t know what the deal is with the denise brand, but my hands really don’t hurt after working with them, even for a long time!! :balloons: happy for ya and I hope that u just  yours like i do mine…and, obviously, kellyk does hers
have a knitty day
 later, man…lol

 Love you back Rebecca! muah

I have to confess, I’ve not yet TRIED the Denise needles, so as much as I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Boyes, I can’t say I love them better, until I’ve at least tried the Denise. I do love the colors and case of the Boyes, and the 3 additional needle sizes (sizes 2, 3, & 4)! I’m not sure how I’d like the plastic of the Denises–this is where I really need to try them to know.

Remember the Denise needle tips are shorter. Picture here. Some people like longer needles to hold onto; I know Meg Swansen feels this way, as did EZ. But this shortness may be worth it, if you don’t mind changing the way you hole the needles a bit, since it gives you a 16" needle length, whereas the shortest Boye is 20" because of the longer tips. If you’ve ever used a 16" circular needle of any kind, it would have had shorter tips, similar to the Denise, to give you an idea of how that would feel to knit with.

The Denise look way easier to change the tips, they just snap on.
But then the Boyes are aluminum (so smooth), and come in such pretty colors and that GREAT carrying case, so compact and I love the look.

Has anyone given you the shopping tip for getting the Boys for $40? Buy them at Michaels with one of their $40 off coupons (published in local Sunday papers apparently). End price is $40 I believe.

Anyway, more stuff for you to chew on! Good luck choosing!
Amy

I just bought mine yesterday from Michael’s with the 40% coupon. Yeaaaaaa :cheering: :cheering: :cheering:

:cheering: :cheering: :cheering: :happydance: :happydance:
Yay YAY YAY for you!!!

My Michaels doesnt carry the Boyes. Otherwise, Id buy 2 sets, mostly to have those smaller sizes to knit socks on 2 circs.

AND, if I have several projects going at once, Id have needles for EVERYTHING!!!

BWAAA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAA!

U toooo :roflhard: :roflhard: and way too smarrtt!! :cheering: :cheering:

I love my Boyes! I have never knit with the plastic, but I just love the feel of the aluminum. And the pretty colors help me tell the different sizes.

I was just at Hobby Lobby were I saw they have the individual pieces to the Boye’s interchangeable. So you can buy extra needles and cables in different sizes too. I plan on getting another 21 inch cable for sure. And depending on what size needles I use most, I’ll probably add another set of those! Then I can have LOTS of projects going all at once!

Unfortunately Hobby Lobby doesn’t do those great 40% coupons that I now about. But DH got mine on eBay for about $40 including shipping. Brand new set.

There was a 40% coupon for HL in yesterday’s paper, so maybe they’ve caught on to that great idea…

Jazz, Im SO glad you bumped this thread…because I really should update everyone on the problem with the Denise cords snapping at the cord tips…

I have had this happen to me THREE times now. With my last return for a replacement, I enclosed a note stating that it was the third time this happened.

WELL…in Saturday’s mail, I received a WHOLE SET OF REPLACEMENT CORDS along with a note that said they have improved the process for making the cords…a whole explanation of that process, and an apology.

What AWESOME customer service!! :cheering:

I love my Denise’s.   They are wonderful! I’m thinking that if the planets ever align and I get to a store that has them when I have a coupon, I will buy a set of Boye’s. If I don’t like them, I can always trade them here.

Why would I need two sets of interchangeables? Because I am so promiscuous with my projects that I actually have all my cords in use at once and I have other things I’d like to put on the needles.

I bought my Denise at my LYS and if a piece breaks, I can get a replacement from the LYS rather than having to mail it to the company. They are guaranteed for any damage except pet chewing. Apparently, my LYS has a distributor license with the company (or some business term, whatever, they’re official  ).

but they’re not as short as Addis!

cool! My cord just snapped the other night, but I know it was my fault - I knit WAYYYYY too tightly and pushed down my knitting on the cord - oops!
