K2tog (K1, yfwd)

I’m knitting a lace pattern and i don’t get this stitch… is the k2tog the k1, yfwd, or do i knit two together and then do k1, yfwd… help?

The details that are helpful and often required for us to help you are the pattern name, and a link to the pattern if possible. Some questions require us to know what yarn and needle size you’re using because it can affect a pattern.

In this case we would like the pattern name and link if possible. And it would help if you’d type out the lines before and after you are having the problem.

The instructions are asking you to work on the next 3 sts: k1 then k2tog, then bring the yarn forward preparatory for the next step.
Presumably the k2tog, yfwd is in parentheses for a reason, perhaps it’s repeated?

This is what i’m making - http://www.dealclick.co.uk/product/13656461/Rowan-Learn-to-Knit-Lace-Kit.html

couldn’t find the pattern online, so here goes…

needles 4mm (us 6)
yarn - cashsoft dk

tension - 22st and 30 rows to cm measured over st st and lace pattern

first 4 rows are knit

then we get to the row i’m stuck on -

Row 1 (RS) K2, *K2tog (K1, yfwd) twice, k1, sl1, k1, psso, k3, rep from * to last 9 sts, K2tog (K1, yfwd) twice, K1, sl1, k1, psoo, k2

and then

Row 2 and every second row from there on Purl

Row 3 K1, *K2 tog, K1, yfwd, K3, yfwd, K1, sl1, K1, psso, K1, rep from * to end

Row 5 K2tog, k1, yfwd, k5, yfwd, k1,sl1, k2tog, psso, rep from * to last 9 sts, K1, yfwd, K1, sl1, k1, psso

Row 7 K1, *yfwd, K1, sl1, k1, psso, k3, k2tog, k1 yfwd, k1, rep from * to end

Row 9 K2, *yfwd, K1, sl1, k1, psso, k1, k2tog, k1, yfwd, k3, rep from * to last 9 sts, yfwd, K1, sl1, k1, psso, k1, k2tog, k1, yfwd, k2

row 11 k3, *yfwd, k1, sl1, k2tog, psso, k1, yfwd, k5, rep from * to lst 8 sts, yfwd, k1, sl1, k2tog, psso, k1, yfwd, k3

row 12 purl

these 12 rows are set pattern, continue patt until work measures 18cm, ending with WS facing for next row

Knit 2 rows, cast off knitways on WS

hope this helps

Do whatever’s in the () as many times as it says. So Row 1 is

 • K2, * K2tog k1, yo, k1 yo, k1, sl1, k1, psso, k3, and repeat all that from * to last 9 sts, which will be K2tog K1, yo, k1, yo, K1, sl1, k1, psoo, k2

These are all separate sts, a YO/yf doesn’t use a stitch, the yarn is just wrapped around the needle between knit sts.
