K1, P1 into each stitch?

hi - so i’m using a pattern where one row says to K2tog for the entire row, then the next row is to K1, P1 into each stitch all the way across the row. Since the first row decreased the total number of stitches by half, I’m assuming I’m going to do an increase with this “K1 P1 into each stitch” row. But, exactly how do you do it?

do you ?
knit a stitch, but don’t take it off the needle.
stick the needle back into the original stitch (as if to purl)
purl the stitch and move it to the right needle.

are there any websites to demonstrate this technique?

so, i think the pattern doesn’t call it this, but the description here:

looks like the moss stitch is the closest thing to this technique?

does this look right? thanks for any help!

You’ve got the right idea, except after knitting the stitch, bring the yarn to the front between the needles to purl into the same stitch before you slide it off.

perfect - thanks. i think i’ve got it!
