someone comes along and does something so incredibly nice…
The other day the ice cream man was in our neighborhood. The kids got all excited and I told them I had some change so I’d get them each an ice cream. We went inside and I found $1.25, all in change.
Well, when I was a kid, you could get an ice cream for 25 cents, and, even just last year, the cheapest ice cream was 50 cents. I figured with a buck 25, they could each get an ice cream, no problem.
So, we wave down the truck, he stops, I’m looking at the selection and see there is absolutely nothing for less than a dollar. In the meantime, a guy comes over to the truck, he was about 15 or so, guessing, and I have never seen him in my life. He was standing right next to me so he of course saw I had only change and he overheard me telling the kids I could only get them one ice cream and they’d have to share.
He turns to me and says he’ll buy the kids ice cream. I told him thank you, but he didn’t have to do that, they could just share the one and he said, no, really, it’s no problem. He asked the kids which ice cream they wanted and then he asked the ice cream man to get the 2 ice creams the kids wanted, and he got 3 for himself (and I assume friends or siblings). I insisted he take the dollar 25 I did have to at least cover the cost of one of the ice creams and he said no, it wasn’t a problem.
I told him thank you and the kids did too, he said “you’re welcome” and was on his way.
I was just totally blown away! Hopefully I’ll have more money next time the ice cream man drives by and that guy will be there so I can return the favor!
