Just gotta love Julie Andrews

Someone emailed this and I thought you’d enjoy:

To commemorate her 69th birthday on October 1, actress/vocalist, Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan’s Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of the AARP.
One of the musical numbers she performed was “My Favorite Things” from the legendary movie “Sound Of Music”. Here are the lyrics she used:

Maalox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
These are a few of my favorite things.
Cadillacs and cataracts ,and hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.
When the pipes leak,
When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don’t feel so bad.
Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.
Back pains, confused brains, and no need for sinnin’,
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin’,
And we won’t mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favorite things.
When the joints ache,
When the hips break,
the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I’ve had,
And then I don’t feel so bad.

(Ms. Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores.)

That is really cute! I’ve always thought she was such a gracious lady - who knew she had that sense of humor?

That is WONDERFUL… thanks for sharing!

That is great :roflhard:

I’ve always like Julie Andrews.

Mary

Fantastic :roflhard: She rocks!

:roflhard::rofl::roflhard: I love when famous people have a sense of humor!

I love that she KNITS. Sense of humor is great, but knitting is better.

When I was little, I wanted to be Julie Andrews. She’s so elegant and gracious, and what a voice. Thanks for sharing!

:roflhard: That is great, thanks for sharing! I’ve always loved Julie Andrews. Mary Poppins is one of my favorite movies… I have the anniversary DVD and just watched it the other day. Always makes me smile. And I just love the scarf she wears in it… I found this pattern I hope to try very soon. Anyone made this? http://community.livejournal.com/punk_knitters/947377.html

I knew there was a reason I loved that woman. Seriously, she is just absolutely amazing. She totally blows stereotypes about “little old ladies” out of the water!

And she KNITS!!! AAAH! I love her!

Ya know, the older I get the older “little old lady” becomes. I wouldn’t consider Julie Andrews as “little old lady”
