Just checking a pattern instruction

The instruction for a heel flap of a sock reads:

Row 1 (RS): Sl 1 wyif, *K1,sl 1 wyib, rep from * to last st, K1

So I’m slipping one with yarn in front (meaning purlwise, I presume), then alternate knitting one and slipping one with yarn in back (knitwise or purlwise??)

This is a little different than the Sl1, K1 that I’ve done on other sock heels, and I thought I’d check before getting in the middle of it and finding holes in my heel!

Thanks!

You may want confirmation because this is such a tricky subject, but you will slip them both purlwise, just change where you hold the yarn.

Yes, wyif is to hold the yarn as if to purl, with yarn in back is holding the yarn as if to knit, however you slip both sts purlwise.
