Jumbo flyer question

Hi everyone!

I have an Ashford Traditional wheel, last used with the jumbo flyer attachment for plying some gorgeous dark maroon alpaca yarn. Oh is it luscious!

Anyway, now I would like to get back spinning something new, but to put the regular flyer back on, I have to remove screws and replace the flyer attachment, replace the screws… seems that doing this repeatedly would strip the screw holes.

Is there any reason I can’t use the jumbo flyer with the regular size bobbin for spinningmy singles, then putting the jumbo bobbins on for plying?

I guess I can give it a try to see what happens! :slight_smile:

There should be a grommet that you can use in the maiden for the regular flyer/bobbin.
Yes, you can use the regular bobbin with your jumbo flyer. Just realize the ratios won’t be the same as using your regular flyer.
Do you have the regular or double drive???

Ah, a grommet! I got the wheel used, so that piece may have gone missing. Apparently so, since I can’t find one. That did occur to me . Maybe I’ll have to take a trip to the hardware store.

I did realize the ratio would be different, but so far it’s working out ok.
