As per the attached video, how does this work when you are knitting off the back needle in a counter-clockwise direction?
Aren’t you supposed to knit clockwise? This is just so confusing to me. How do you make it go the proper way?

I find this one easier…the turkish cast on. It looks the same when you’re done, but easier to do IMO.

I agree, I can’t figure out Judy’s MCO, but the turkish cast on is really easy.
When you knit normally I knit off the left hand needle onto the right hand needle. That’s counter-clockwise. Clockwise would be right to left. So the direction you knit in the video is the same direction as usual.
I just learned this cast on from that same video. I’m knitting toe up baby socks. If you know magic loop, it’s the same thing. The only difference is that your work will be flat at first. It’ll be like a flat spiral but as you increase, it’ll gradually curve like the bottom of a bowl. Once you’re done with your increases, you’ll just knit around and you’ll see the shaping. It may be easier for you to hold the needles parallel to each other, pointing to the right, with the needle that the working yarn is coming from behind the other needle. Then you’ll see what I mean with this magic loop thing.
Try a couple different cast on ways and see what you like best. You can use scrap yarn ends to practice. You can always rip it out if you don’t like it and try something else. Proper knitting direction is right to left.
When sing Judy’s Magic Cast on the first rows/rounds are, as fatoldladyinpjs says, are flat and you are knitting on a top and bottom needle not front and back. As you continue to knit the top needle will become the front needle and the bottom will be the back.

You use clockwise and counter-clockwise to describe the knitting direction, for a right hand knitter the direction is generally described as old stitches on left hand needle move to new stitches on the right hand needle. To me this could also be described as counter-clockwise.
When you knit in which hand is the needle with the old stitches and which hand holds the needle with the new stitches.
I do know a number of people that, when knitting in the round, knit on the back needle rather than the front. Their work is knit inside out but it is still very nice work.
AS for me I find the Turkish Cast on very fiddly and prefer Judy’s Magic Cast-On, but then with my opinion and $1.00 (US) you can buy a 25 cent cup of coffee.
I looked at this video and it seems nice…however, I am using dpns and when I switch needles (bottom on top) I can not knit into the stitch…(it’s not twisted as that is on the second round) am I just knitting to tight?
I don’t think you’re knitting too tightly. I’ve tried it with dpns before as well and found that it’s a bit tougher to knit them off dpns. I think it’s because when you use circulars you slide the stitches you aren’t knitting onto the cord, which gives you more ease to knit. After a few more rounds it should be easier to knit I think. Also after a few more rounds I’d add in another needle, I always find knitting in the round on two dpns isn’t comfortable.
