Joining yarn

I am knitting a ribbed scarf with Wool Ease chunky. I had to make a join and no matter which way I try to join the yarn it seems to show up and ruin my work, looks kind of lumpy where the join is. Am I doing something wrong? Been knitting for years but usually use worsted. Thanks for help

I used WoolEase Thick & Quick and just knit a couple stitches with the old and new ends and then snugged them up a bit. I worked in the tails and it seemed to work OK. However, I was making slippers with very tight stitches (size 8 needles I think) and it might not work as well with more normal sts/in. I’m interested in seeing other replies too!

Hi and welcome!
There are several methods demonstrated here (about 2/3 down the page) including the one GG mentioned. With bulky yarn, you could try overlapping for just a single stitch and then weaving in the ends along the purl column, once you’ve knit about 2-3inches past the join. That’s worked for me in the past.
